Savage cuts proposed for HSE West – Labour

The savage cuts proposed for the HSE West (stretching from Donegal to Limerick) cannot be tolerated and must be resisted.  They are quite simply too deep and too hurtful to the most sick and vulnerable in the region,  Jan O’Sullivan TD, the Labour Party Spokesperson on Health has said.

“Already 750 posts are gone in nursing and mid-wifery alone in HSE West: up to 1,000 other posts are threatened most of them frontline.  Managers are put in the ludicrous position of having to pay extra for agency workers because they are not allowed to hire directly, thus putting more pressure on their budgets.  This is sheer madness. Celtic Legends X1 defeat Finn Harps legends on penalties

Hundreds of Finn Harps fans went to watch one match last evening – while glancing at mobile phones for text updates on another.

While the appearance of a Celtic Legends XI in Ballybofey should have had their full attention, many fans were keen to get updates on the Harps Airtricity League Division One team who were in action at the same time – 110 miles away in Longford.
Originally Harps were due to play Longford Town today (Saturday) in a league game, but last week the midlanders announced that they intended to play their home games on Fridays instead of Saturdays.
