Gardaí in the South East investigating recent burglaries involving the theft of large quantities of Copper Wire have arrested two men in Carlow.
The men aged 23 yrs and 28 yrs were arrested on Saturday 14th August 2010 and detained under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984. Both men have been charged and released from custody. They are expected to appear before Carlow District Court on 22nd September 2010.
No property has been recovered and investigations are ongoing.

Donegal explosion leaves man in critical condition
A Donegal man remains in critical condition in a Dublin hospital following an explosion in Falcarragh last night.
The man was initially taken to Letterkenny Hospital, but was quickly transferred to Dublin, as a result of the seriousness of his condition.

Fax mistake led to Sligo patient info going to private Donegal fax
Sligo General hospital staff mistakenly sent the details of patient information to a Donegal fax number, it has been revealed.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) admitted that staff at Sligo General Hospital faxed referral letters to a private Donegal fax number in 2008.
The error appartently manifested itself when staff used an incorrect area code, or prefix, when they attempted to send the private information to a public health nurse. Read more
Kesh arrest after car theft and alleged drink driving
A 23 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion drink driving and stealing a car Fermanagh over the weekend.
Three other men aged 19, 20 and 22 were detained on suspicion of allowing themselves to be carried in a stolen car. They were stopped by police as they drove on to Muckross beach near Kesh. A police officer was slightly injured.
USI Launch Practical Student Accommodation Guide
The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) will launch its USI Rent Book 2010 at the students’ union of DIT on Aungier Street at 11.30am, tomorrow.
This Rent Book will provide third level students with all of the relevant information needed on any accommodation issues they may face throughout the college year.
Aideen Hayden, Chair of Threshold- the National Housing Organisation, will launch the publication and speak at the event.
The USI Rent Book 2010 has been produced with support of Threshold and the Department of the Environment.
