Celtic wins 4-3 on penalties after extra time
Goalkeeper Michael Mc Kelvey and Colin Ferry were the heroes of the day with the home team scrambling into the semi-finals of the Brian Mc Cormick Cup
Ferry forced the game into extra time with a last minute strike and Mc Kelvey saved two United penalties to leave the holders still intact.

Mayor of Clare Cllr. Christy Curtin today congratulated Fr. Kieran O’Reilly S.M.A. on being ordained the new Bishop of Killaloe in Ennis Pro Cathedral.
Bishop O’Reilly succeeds outgoing Bishop Dr. Willie Walsh who has held the position since 2 October 1994.

Two goals in the second half from Gerard McMonagle helped Raphoe on their way to victory in the area final of the Brian McCormick Cup competition when they saw off Drumoghill at Deele College. A strong blustery wind made conditions difficult for both teams but both sides gave 100% in a hard fought and sporting encounter.
Raphoe took the lead in the 10th minute when John Sweeney headed on a free-kick from Frankie McBrearty and the Drumoghill keeper was unable to keep the ball from finding the roof of the net. Read more
A 54-YEAR-OLD mother who was on her way to work in a well-known restaurant was killed at a notorious accident blackspot in Co Sligo yesterday morning.
The dead woman was named locally as Karen Mounsey, who ran the restaurant at King House, a restored 18th Century Georgian mansion in Boyle, Co Roscommon.
She and her husband James have three sons, one of whom helped them run the restaurant. An antiques fair had been fixed for the venue today and she was going to prepare the restaurant. Read more
Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the N22 at Macroom, Co.Cork, this morning the 29th of August 2010.
The single vehicle crash happened shortly after 6.30 a.m.
A passenger in the car a man in his early 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car and another occupant, both in their 20s, were removed to Cork University Hospital where their condition is not thought to be life threatening.
One lane of the N22 at Macroom is closed while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an examination of the scene.
