A group of influential Italian journalists flew into Ireland West Airport Knock (IWAK) last week on the brand new Ryanair flight from Milan (Bergamo), en route to Sligo as part of a fact-finding trip to the west and north-west. The journalists’ visit was organised by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and Ryanair.
Given that the journalists all represented media outlets from northern Italy, within easy reach of Milan (Bergamo) Airport, the aim of this visit was to highlight the new Ryanair route and the excellent connectivity between Italy and this part of Ireland. It was also a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of what Sligo has to offer potential Italian holidaymakers. During their time in Sligo, the journalists enjoyed the Eagles Flying show in Ballymote; visited Yeats’ grave and Drumcliffe church; and paid a visit to The Model arts centre. Their itinerary also included the megalithic tombs at Carrowmore, a bodhrán workshop at the Radisson Blu Hotel; and a visit to the Kilcullen Seaweed Baths in Enniscrone. Read more

Independent Donegal TD Thomas Pringle today opened a constituency branch office in Dungloe to help serve the needs of the people of the Glenties electoral area.
‘It is with great pleasure that I open this office today. The office will be open every Thursday from 10am to help provide a constituency service for the people of the Glenties electoral area and expand the service that my office in Killybegs has been providing’ said Pringle. ‘Over the last year I have been learning the ropes in the Dail and have been getting my office in Killybegs set up on a permanent basis and now I can look at expanding the constituency service that we provide and open this office in Dungloe’.
‘It is important to provide a constituency service and be available to as many people as possible. The Dungloe office will become an important point of contact for me with the many individuals and groups in the Dungloe area that I am already working with and provide a resource for anyone in the area who wishes to make contact’ continued Pringle.
‘The office will either be staffed by myself or one of my constituency assistants and will be open to the public from 10am-12.30pm and 1.30-4.30pm each Thursday. I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the people of Donegal South West and expanding my service further in the future’ concluded Pringle.
