North West interest in All Ireland Hurling Championships

The draw for the various All Ireland hurling championships were made yesterday evening by the GAA. In Round 2 of the Nicky Rackard Cup, Sligo have been drawn to play Monaghan. In the Lory Meagher Cup, Leitrim are away to Cavan, Donegal play Warwickshire and Fermanagh have a bye. The full draw is:

Leitrim GAA player critical after pitch injury

A Leitrim footballer remains in a critical condition after what has been described as a “freak accident” occurred during a league match betweeen Mohill and Melvin Gaels. 26-year-old Philip McGuinness, known as ‘Philly’ was initially taken to Sligo General Hospital on Saturday evening, but is now critically ill at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.
