Drumcliffe-Rosses Point Ladies Team honoured in Sligo

The team being honoured by Sligo County Council

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Gerry Murray has honoured the Drumcliffe-Rosses Point Ladies Football Team, 2009 Connacht Champions and All Ireland finalists.

In his address the Cathaoirleach paid tribute to the team spirit on and off the field:

‘While the players wore the jersey with distinction, they were very well served by many dedicated people working tirelessly behind the scenes – Team Manager Hugh Slevin, Chairman Gerry Creamer, Secretary Padraig O Grady, and the selectors, First Aid Phil Gallagher and Performance Coach Caroline Currid.’

The Drumcliffe- Rosses Point Team have the ability and ambition to see their achievements in 2009 as a platform to even greater success, and we will continue to follow your careers with interest. Everyone associated with this wonderful journey will have special memories. Caught up in the excitement and drama as you were, you might not fully appreciate the extent of the enjoyment you brought the people of Sligo – but I can assure you, we took great pride in your success, and each and every one of you were an inspiration to every aspiring young footballer in the county.’

The Cathaoirleach also paid tribute to Sligo Ladies County Board Chairman Ted Maloney and Martin Seery ‘two exemplary administrators and excellent servants of the game.’
