Donegal Youth league midweek update

Donegal Youth league
The Donegal Youth league begin the second phase in their quest to capture the Interleague cup, when they host West Waterford East Cork youth league at Bonagee United’s Dry Arch park on Sunday afternoon (Kick Off 12.30). Eunan Brolly’s team are bidding to reach the quarter finals for the 9th in a row, and will start the game as favourites against the WWEC who have qualified for this stage for the first time in some years. WWEC qualified as runners up to Waterford district youth league with 2 wins and one defeat in their three games. They don’t share Donegal’s experience in the competition and as a recently established Youth league they travel to Donegal for the first time in their history. Eunan Brolly’s men for their part qualified top of the group with 3 straight wins over Sligo- Leitrim (6-1), Mayo (2-0) and Inishowen (3-2). The latter of the three games proved a particularly stern test coming from behind against their near neighbours. The squad have been preparing for the game since early January and played the Derry City under 19′s last weekend, and although they lost 3-1 the game proved a useful exercise. Manager Eunan Brolly will have captain Seamie Friel and his Fanad clubmates back this weekend after Intermediate cup duty ruled them out last weekend. Darren Mc Keever limped out of that game but is expected to play, as is Letterkenny Rovers Josh Mailey who also missed out last weekend. Shay Coyle and Chris Mc Bride come into a competitive for the first time after impressing against the candystripes, while their are also recalls for Rathmullen/ Milford pair Barry Mc Namee and Garry Merritt. Youth Squad. Marty Mc Ginty (Bonagee United), Josh Mailey, Garvin Grant & Jaime Doherty (Letterkenny Rovers), Kevin Mc Fadden, Darren Mc Geever, Jonny Harkin & Ciaran Gallagher (Glenea United), Shay Coyle, Seamie Friel & Paul Mc Veigh (Fanad United), Chris Mc Bride (Ballybofey United), Odhran Mac Niallais & Jaime Boyle (Gweedore Celtic), Garry Merritt & Barry Mc Namee (Rathmullen/ Milford), Gavin Mc Glanachy & Corey Gallagher (Rosses Academy).
