Downtown Saturday League Cup Group 1:
Ramelton Mariners 1 Tullyvinney Rovers 1
The Mariners started the stonger in this game played in Kerrykeel but were unable to break the deadlock from the chances they created. Tullyvinney came back into the game as the first half wore on and took the lead before half time through a Benny Harkin strike. Neither side was able to add to the scoring for the remainder of the first half.
After the break most of the pressure came from the home side as they tried to get an equaliser and despite creating numerous chances it looked as though it wasn’t to be their day until the last minute when Paul Stephenson powered a header to the back of the net to snatch the draw.
Team effort from both sides

Downtown Saturday League Cup Group 2:
Kilmacrennan 0 Cranford 1
Crandford came out victorious in the last series game in the cup for both these sides. Played in perfect conditions, Kilmacrennan had the better of the earlier chances with Ryan Shields going closest in the 33rd minute.
Cranford came into it more in the second half and Jimmy McElwaine did well in the Kilmacrennan nets do save Kilmacrennan in the 60th minute from a shot from Shay Coyle. Ciaran Bonner forced Brendan Logue into a great save on the 80th minute. On the 85 minute Gary McBride headed into the Kilmacrennan net following a throw in.
Brendan Logue was best for Cranford. A team effort from Kilmacrennan.

Willie Duffy Division One:
Fintown Harps 1 Glencar Celtic 2
In good conditions at the Comp-Field in Glenties, in a fast tempo game Glencar were putting pressure on the Fintown defence from the start. Fintown’s Dara Gallagher got a great through ball from John “broc” Mc Fadden and Dara made a great run up the field and had a pop at goal but the Glencar keeper saved well. On the 35th minute Glencar’s Paddy Raff scored in a well worked goal from the team.
Second half was much the same with both teams working very hard. Glencar came very close to making it two nil to the away team but Ciaran Molloy in the Fintown Goal did well. Glencar were then awarded a penalty on the 20th minute but Ciaran saved the day by pulling off a great save. Fintown were very unlucky on the 25th minute when Brendan Mc Dyre stood up to take a free kick just outside the box and missed the top corner of the net by inches. Fintown were pushing hard to get a goal to make it all level and their prayers were answered when Dara Gallagher scored a goal with only 10 minutes left on the clock, but sadly it was Glencar that went away with the points from this game as Micheal Molloy scored for the away team with only four minutes left of injury time.
Team performance by both teams.

Dunfanaghy Town 0 Gweedore United 2
Dunfanaghy dominated most of the game on Saturday but Gweedore still managed to come out on top. Dunfanaghy pressure in the first half allowed Daniel Mc Laughlan to break free but his shot somehow managed to hit the post. Dunfanaghy created more chances in the second half but Gweedore scored when Hugh Curran lobbed past Ruari. Dunfanaghy pressed on and a brilliant shot from Barry Mc Ginley somehow hit the post. Martin Mc Laughlan easily scored in the 78th minute to kill the game off.
Glencar Inn Division Two:
Downtown United 3 Drumbar United 0
In a game played in perfect conditions at the tech pitch Downtown got all three points in the first league match of 2010. Downtown attacked from the off putting Drumbar on the back foot and they created numerous chances coming close on couple of occasions though Daimen Watters, Brian Murphy and Marcus Oliver. Drumbar kept working hard and fought their way back creating a couple half chances of there own. It took until the forty second minute until Downtown’s good play to pay off. A moment of superb skill from the ever dangerous Marcus Oliver, a through a ball from Corkey on the right put Marcus Oliver away and he turned inside the centre back to drive his shot home to the top left hand corner of the net from 25 yards. The second half started much same as the first as Downtown continued to press and extended their lead on the hour mark when Brain Murphy drove home front a tight angle from the edge of the box. Downtown added a third on the seventy fifth minute when Marcus Oliver added his second as he beat two defenders on the edge of the box before slotting past the keeper. Drumbar fought hard to get back into the game but could not break down a well organised Downtown defence.
Best for Downtown : Marcus Oilver, Sean Sweeney, Steven Corcaran (Corkey)

Brian McCormick Sports & Leisure Premier League:
Gweedore United 2 Milford United 2
In a glorious day at Carrickboyle both these sides sitting at the wrong end of the table could only achieve a share of the spoils in what could only be described as your typical relegation battle. The home side got off to a good start and 10 minutes in Frank Mc Gee played Owen Ward through and Ward drove just wide of the post. Four minutes later following a defensive error Gary Merrit found himself one on one with Alan Keller in the Gweedore net however Keller did enough and Merrit drove wide. Both sides had good chances to take the lead and on 38 minutes Milford broke the deadlock when Peter Doherty broke the offside trap and slotted into the bottom right corner of Keller’s net. In the last kick of the first half Darren Ferry had a good chance to equalise but the Milford keeper did well to save leaving the score 1-0 to the visitors at half time.
Milford started well in the second half and on 50 minutes Gary Merrit shot from 18 yards which Keller parried and David Curley tapped home from close range to make it 2-0. It took the home side to go two behind before they began to play, and saw some good chances from Shane O Donnell, Ciaran O’ Brien and Darren Ferry. On 67 minutes Gweedore got one back when Fionnan Divers free kick was tapped into the back of the Milford net by Patrick Brady. The home side continued to push and in the 75th minute got their well deserved equaliser when Patrick Brady broke free and drove the ball past the Milford keeper to make it 2-2. The game could have gone either way after this with both sides pushing for the 3 points, however it ended all square.
Gary Merrit played well for Milford with Fionnan Diver and Patrick Brady playing well for the home side.

Eany Celtic 0, Dunkineely Celtic 0
Eany Celtic hosted their neighbours Dunkineely Celtic in Eany Park. This was a close fought encounter with a much improved Eany Celtic performance from the previous week. Eany lost Brian McMonagle at centre back, and Peter McDyre at full back in the first half. The switch of Paul Burke to centre half and the introduction of Conor McBrearty at full back steadied the Eany defence, Brian McDaid was introduced up front for Eany.
This was a good sporting game, both defences were on top, with Paul McGeoghan in defence for Dunkineely and Mark Ward in defence for Eany Celtic playing well.
Very few chances were created by either side, until the last few minutes of the game. Barry Rose fired his shot over the bar, after being put through by Stewart Johnson. Dunkineely responded immediately, with a shot from Adrian Mackey, just going outside of the Eany post.
This was a good team performance from both sides, with the referee Mick Lagan having a very good game.
Milford Inn Hotel Division One:
Castlefin Celtic 0 St Catherine’s 1
An Andrew Mullan goal just before half time gave St Catherines all three points against Castlefin in a game of few clear chances at Parkview on Sunday. Castlefin started the brighter and went close in the 15th minute when Ronan Tourish broke free but shot at the St Catherines keeper Kevin Martin. Both sides had efforts in the opening period but nothing to trouble either keeper. Then in the 44th minute the visitors took the lead when a Ronan Dunne free was headed into the net by Andrew Mullan. Castlefin pushed forward in the second half in search of the equaliser and went close in the 75th minute when an Emmet White shot was well saved by Martin in the St Catherines goal from a Kevin White through ball.
Best wishes to St Catherines player Andrew Mullen who suffered a bad leg injury towards the end of the game.

Cappry Rovers 0. Deele Harps 1.
Deele Harps kept their promotion hopes alive when they recorded a crucial one nil win over Cappry Rovers in Cappry Park.
The first half was very lack luster with neither side testing either keeper. Cappry came closest in the 28th minute when they had a Dylan Ramsey goal disallowed following a suspected hand ball.
Chances in the second half were few and far between with neither keeper seriously tested.
Deele got the all important goal that keeps them in the chasing pact in the seventy sixth minute when the Cappry defence failed to clear and Jordon Duffy pounced to score from close range.
Cappry tried to get the equaliser but a good save from Deele keeper Willie Curran made sure of the three points for the visitors.
Kevin Mc Glynn was best for Cappry.
Seamie Gallagher and Dolly Martin were best for Deele.
Referee Victor Rainey.
On this Tuesday night 16th March Cappry Rovers play Lagan Harps in Cappry Park Kick Off 7- 30 pm.
Ballybofey Utd 2 Copany Rovers 2
Copany snatched a draw from this encounter at a breezy Finn View Park with a 90th minute penalty. The visitors started brightly and had a penalty saved on 10minutes by Ballybofey goal keeper Chris Patton. Owen Bonar opened the scoring on 15minutes with a well worked goal after he broke through the Copany defence. This score line stayed the same until the 70th minute when Chris McDaid scored after a through ball from McAuley. Copany looked dead and buried at this stage, but poor finishing from Ballybofey, who squandered numerous chances to go three up, and persistence paid off on 82 minute when Darren Brogan scored after defensive mix up. And then the penalty on 90 minutes converted by David Graham.
Team performence from both sides.

CT Ball Division Two:
Rathmullan Celtic 0-1 Kerrykeel
It was a quiet day at Maggie’s Gate , with the Celts very much expected to up their game for the battle for promotion but it was their good neighbours from over Shanky who took all three points and open the battle for promotion wide open in the CT Ball Division 2. Played in front of a packed home support and scouts from Glenree keeping a watchful eye on proceedings, Kevin Mc Carry was through one on one with man of the match Mark Mc Conigley, but the striker put his effort wide when a goal was at his disposal. Deano and Paddy Sheridan also came close for the Celts and Johnny Friel had a strike well saved by Denis Sheridan to deny Kerrykeel in the opening half hour. The goal eventually came at approximately 2.25 GMT when Kerrykeel’s Michael Sweeney played a fine ball from the wing into Johnny Friel at the edge of the area, and the striker placed his effort low into the bottom corner giving Sheridan in goals no chance and subsequently settle the tie from this solitary strike. The second half saw the Celts press hard for that all elusive equaliser and they nearly levelled terms when Chippy Barrett was one on one with Mc Conigley in goals, but the keeper pulled off a great save to deny Barrett and keep the points safe. In the final minute, Celtics smiling assassin Shaun Patton was sent off for wrestling Johnny Friel to the ground in a tackle that would have impressed Declan Kidney more than the man in the middle Paddy Martin, who couldn’t get the red card out quick enough.
Best for Kerrykeel was Mark Mc Conigley, Sean Callaghan and Connie Mc Conigley, while Reggie Miller impressed for the Celts.
Referee: Paddy Martin
Whitestrand United 1 Curragh Athletic 2
After a scoreless first half Curragh took the lead with a free kick which sneaked in at the back post to give the visitors the lead, Michael Doherty was the scorer. Brendan Boyle made it two on the hour with a well finished goal turning inside to place the ball in the corner of the net.
On a windy afternoon ‘Strand had the breeze on her back throughout the second half and Mark Friel turned in the box only to be taken down for a penalty. Andrew Friel scored the penalty to make the score 2-1 .Although ‘Strand found the side net with a header late on, they couldn’t find an equaliser.
Salom, the Brazilian forward was the ‘Strands best. Team performance from Curragh.
Ulster Junior Cup
Round 4
Lagan Harps 1 Cockhill Youths 1 (Lagan won 4-1 on pens)
Lagan reached the semi final of the Ulster Junior cup when they overcame Cockhill Youths on penalties in a poor match. Both teams failed to adapt to a bumpy surface with the ball spending more time in the air and in the hedge than on the pitch. With numerous misplaced passes there were only a handful of clearcut chances. The closest Lagan came to scoring in the first half was when a Kevin Kelly near post corner almost sneaked in but for a fine save from Shane Galvin. Cockhill had a few good long range efforts but Danien Mc Fadden was relatively untroubled in the Lagan goal. Lagan went close at the start of the second half when Kevin Kelly pulled a corner back to Barney Bradley who drove over. Mick O’Connor then went close for Cockhill when he rose highest at a corner but headed just over. Marty Bogan then forced his way in to the Cockhill area and beat the keeper but Sean Porter did well to clear off the line. Lagan took the lead on seventy minutes when a corner was returned to Kevin Kelly who cut in along the end line. Shane Galvin did well to save his effort but Chris Toner drove home the rebound. Cockhill pressed but Lagan looked like seeing out the game. Cockhill equalised on eighty seven minutes when they were awarded a free kick just outside the Lagan area. Centre back Martin Donaghy hit a thunderous effort high in to the roof of the net. Both teams pushed for a winner in extra time with Lagan keeper Damien Mc Fadden pulling off a fine save from Aidan Porter. Mc Fadden was the hero in the penalty shootout when he saved the first two Cockhill penalties and Lagan squeaked through.
