A Leitrim footballer remains in a critical condition after what has been described as a “freak accident” occurred during a league match betweeen Mohill and Melvin Gaels. 26-year-old Philip McGuinness, known as ‘Philly’ was initially taken to Sligo General Hospital on Saturday evening, but is now critically ill at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.
