Armagh GAA to appoint Naming Rights holder to new stadium
Armagh GAA is set to make history with the sale of the Naming Rights to its new stadium in the Cathedral City.
The Orchard County will open the gates to a new £4.5m Gaelic Games stadium on February 5 2011, when Dublin visit for the National League season launch, a game that will be screened live on television.
The County Board has just completed a huge re-development programme of the Athletic Grounds which began a decade ago. The old venue housed a capacity of 12,000. The new venue will boast a 19,500 capacity, including a 5,600 covered seated stand, a 2,500 capacity covered terrace, an event control room and state-of-the-art facilities for disabled spectators, including lifts and reserved viewing positions.
As well as two new food kiosks, 36 new turnstiles, players of all ages and all Gaelic sports will make use of new dressing rooms, medical facilities and a meeting room. There is also a new media room.
This is an opportunity that will appeal to brands throughout the island of Ireland and globally.
My Armagh Chairman Paul Kelly, whose committee will oversee the sale of Naming Rights to the Athletic Grounds, said: “We are making history for Armagh GAA and offering a great opportunity for a brand to be associated with what will be one of the top sporting venues in Ireland.
“The stadium will be the home of major National League, Ulster and All-Ireland Qualifier Championship games for both Football and Hurling. It will also host, through time, hundreds of Club Championship games at all levels for Football (Ladies and Men), Hurling and Camogie.”
My Armagh has engaged Irish sports marketing agency mxsportandtalent to manage the sale of naming rights of the Athletic Grounds.
