Donegal family win a tasty half million
Champagne flowed at National Lottery offices yesterday, as a family group of five from Co Donegal collected their EuroMillions PLUS win of €500,000 from last Friday’s (27 November 2009) draw. “We play EuroMillions almost every week and were just saying the other day that it would be great to win €5,000,” said one of the delighted winners. She continued: “Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think we’d be sitting here sipping champagne in the National Lottery and picking up a cheque for half a million Euro. It’s all just so surreal.” Another group member takes up the story: “We were summoned to a family meeting at the weekend and were all sure something terrible had happened. There was a sigh of relief when we heard the good news.” Each member of the group will receive €100,000. They currently have no plans for the win, with one winner adding: “It still hasn’t sunk in.” The group, who wish to keep their win private, bought their lucky €12 Quick Pick ticket in Esso Service Station, Laghey, Co Donegal on Thursday 26 November 2009. There was a second €500,000 winning ticket in Friday’s EuroMillions PLUS draw. The €6 Quick Pick ticket was bought in Heneghans, South Lotts Road, Ringsend, Dublin 4. The prize has not yet been claimed. All winners have 90 days from the day of the draw to collect a prize.
