Flanagan condemns Belleek break ins
Sinn Féin’s Phil Flanagan has said that those responsible for last weekend’s break ins in Belleek are ‘a scourge on our society’. The Fermanagh and South Tyrone Assembly candidate said:
“These despicable breaks ins have sent a sense of shock and concern around the local area.
“Those responsible are a scourge on our society and more must be done to tackle this type of criminal activity.
“Those who run businesses in areas such as Belleek face enough challenges to remain open without actions like this adding to their problems.
“Recent figures show a continued elevation in the rate of burglary across Fermanagh alongside a reduction in the number of arrests.
“It is clear that the PSNI need to do much to prevent this type of criminal activity, with particular emphasis on greater co-operation with An Garda Síochana.
“Those carrying out these burglaries are aware of all this and know that the chance of them getting caught is very slim.
“Only by taking further preventative steps to reduce the number of burglaries and increasing the number of people brought before the courts, can the level of confidence in the PSNI’s ability to tackle crime be increased.”
