Garrison bus decision welcomed

Sinn Féin MLA for Fermanagh & South Tyrone Phil Flanagan has welcomed the reintroduction by Translink of the Thursday only service to Garrison, Co Fermanagh.
Mr Flanagan said:
“I am glad that Translink have reinstated the Thursday only service to Garrison as it is a vital service to people in that part of Fermanagh.
“If that service were to be removed, then there would be no other public transport serving the village which would mean many people being unable to travel out of the area.
“It is important that affordable public transport is available especially for rural communities which can become isolated without one.
“I welcomed Translinks’ decision to freeze fares this year but more needs to be done to entice people back into public transport because unless that happens the continuing service cannot be guaranteed in these hard economic times.
“I will continue to work with Translink to ensure a proper public transport system for the people of Fermanagh.”
