HSE MUST ENSURE MEADHBH McGIVERN IS BROUGHT HOME SAFELY
Sligo North Leitrim Susan O’Keeffe has urged the HSE and the Government to ensure that Meadhbh Mc Givern and patients in her situation in the future are safely transported home. HSE chief executive Cathal Mc Gee has given a personal assurance that Meadhbh will be transported home safely and this is to be welcomed.
“That Cathal Mc Gee has given the assurance to the Mc Givern’s that Meadhbh will be brought home safely is a positive move. As the HSE and other organisations revamp the transportation for patients like Meadhbh they must give equal priority to safe return transport.
“I will be urging the HSE and the Government to guarantee safe return journeys for patients undergoing serious and life threatening operations. This must be part of the procedures for the National Aeromedical Co-Ordination Group.
“It is important that patients and their families are not left in a position where they have to make their own arrangements following serious operations. The safe return and the welfare of the patients’ is paramount and needs to be ensured.”
