GALWAY MAN COLLECTS €350,000 JUST ONE DAY BEFORE DEADLINE
Champagne flowed at National Lottery offices today, as a very happy Galway man collected a cheque for €350,000. The lucky winner certainly had plenty to celebrate – he collected his prize with just one day to go before the 90 day deadline. He won the Lotto Plus 1 top prize in the draw on 1 May 2010.
“This is fantastic news,” smiled the regular Lotto player. “I saw an article in the local paper, the Connacht Sentinel, yesterday and I remembered I had a few tickets to check. I can’t believe €350,000 has been sitting in my house all this time.”
He added: “I’m very grateful to the newspaper. Who knows what would’ve happened if I hadn’t seen that article.”
The Galwegian, who wishes to keep the win private, bought his lucky €4 Quick Pick ticket in Mahers Corner Shop, Fr Griffin Rd, Co. Galway. He hasn’t yet made any plans for the windfall.
National Lottery good causes benefit from all National Lottery draws, with one third of all sales (approx) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.
Since the National Lottery was launched, over €3.4 billion has been raised for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
