Sligo North Leitrim T.D. Eamon Scanlon has welcomed confirmation from the HSE that services at Our Lady’s Hospital in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim will be expanded to serve the entire region with a Consultant-led rheumatology service.

“I’m delighted to say I attended a meeting on Friday with HSE Senior Management, Oireachtas members and HSE West Forum members.  This meeting was very productive and it’s now clear that the future of Our Lady’s is secure, not only as a hospital that serves the immediate community but the entire region with state-of-the-art rheumatology services,” said Deputy Scanlon.

“The future of Our Lady’s has been the subject of a lot of local debate on discussion and in some cases genuine concern.  I am delighted the HSE has seen for itself the capacity of Our Lady’s to deliver a great service for the region and continue to support the local community in Manorhamilton.”
“As a result of this new Consultant-led service the lives of patients will be transformed.  I know the difference Our Lady’s has on the lives of those who depend on its services.  I look forward to seeing the service at Our Lady’s transformed and I will work with the hospital management and the HSE management and do anything I can as a public representative to ensure this important transformation is brought about as quickly as possible.”
