Ambulance call centre fears in Mayo
Fears are growing in Castlebar, County Mayo that the local Ambulance Call Centre will be moved from Castlebar to Ballyshannon.
The new emergency call centre in Ballyshannon is one of two in the country, along with Navan in County Meath, that will centralise all operations for
emergency services in the Republic of Ireland.
Recruitment has already begun in Donegal, with recruiters looking for people that live within half an hour of the location.
The Mayo centre is based at Mayo General Hospital and there were major concerns expressed when it was revealed that the call centre would not become part of Camp West, the call centre for the emergency services on the west coast.
The closure would see the loss of over a dozen jobs in the Mayo town
