Galway Murder Investigation 4th person released

Gardai­ in Galway investigating the murder of 40-year-old Krzysztof Ciesielski in Athenry, Co. Galway, on the 30th May 2013 have released a woman in her 30s from custody and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The woman and 3 men were arrested on the evening of 6th June 2013. The three men were released without charge earlier today and files will be prepared for the DPP. All four people who were in custody have now been released.

Gardai in Galway are investigating as murder the death of 40-year-old male following an incident in Athenry, Co. Galway, on the 30th May 2013.

At approximately 11.30 p.m. on the 30th May 40-year-old Krzysztof Ciesielski, with an address in Athenry and originally from Poland, sustained serious head injuries during an incident outside a house at Cullairbaun Estate. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead yesterday evening (5/6/2013).

Serious assault in Galway

Gardai in Galway are investigating an incident which occurred in Cullairbaun Estate, Athenry at approximately 11.30pm last night, 30th May, 2013.

Arising from this incident a 41 year old male received serious head injuries and is currently in a critical condition at UHG.

The Gardai are appealing for any persons who were in this area between 11p.m. and 12 midnight on Thursday night 30th May, 2013 to contact the Gardai at Galway Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station with any information they may have.

Galway road death

GardaI at Galway are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Knockdoe, Co Galway (N17) at approximately 2.30am this morning (20/5/13).

A 24 year old male driver of a car (only occupant) was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a traffic island at Knockdoe.

His body has been removed to Galway University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place later today.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.

Connacht Rugby agree new deal with thee players

Connacht Rugby has confirmed contract extensions for scrum half Frank Murphy, back row forward Mata Fifita and centre Brian Murphy.

The latest deals make it 21 players who have committed their future to the province in recent months.

Frank Murphy had a disappointing season with Connacht having suffered a cruciate ligament injury in the first away game away to Zebre back in September. The injury resulted in the scrum half being side-lined for the remainder of the season but Murphy has been working extremely hard in rehab for the last eight months and will be fighting fit for the beginning of pre-season in early June. Michael D Higgins TD, Labour Party President and Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, today condemned the execution last Friday of 8 foreign and 2 Afghan aid workers from the aid group International Assistance Mission in Badakshan province of Afghanistan.

He said, “The execution for proselytising by the Taliban of such selfless aid workers who were bringing eye care and medical attention to communities in remote villages of Afghanistan is abhorrent and must be condemned in no uncertain terms. Read more

Man dies in Galway road fatality – collided with ditch

Road fatality in Galway

Gardai in Leenane, Co. Galway are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Glnnagevlagh, Leenane, Co. Galway at 1.15am this morning 11th July 2010.

A 43 year old male was pronounced dead at the scene after the car in which he was the sole occupant collided with a ditch.
The road at the scene of the incident is currently closed and diversions are in place locally.

Concerns raised over missing 14 year old

Missing 14 year old may be in Galway

Gardaí at Tallaght are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 14 year old Felicia Sandu who has an address on Raheen Avenue, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
Felicia, a Romanian National, went missing from her home yesterday, 3rd July 2010. At that time she was wearing blue jeans, a black top, a white cardigan and yellow sandals.
She is described as being 5′ 4” tall,with green eyes, long black hair that has red highlights and is of slight build.
It is possible that Felicia has changed her appearance since going missing and may have cut her hair to shoulder length and dyed it red.
She may also be wearing Indian style clothing.
Felicia has not gone missing before and there is a possibility that she may have since travelled to the Salthill area of Galway.
