The Ireland rugby team to play Scotland in the first RBS 6 Nations Championship game at Murrayfield, Edinburgh has been named.
There are three changes to the side from the team’s last outing and all of those changes are in the backline. Tommy Bowe has recovered from his knee injury that ruled him out of the first two games of the championship and is named on the right wing in place of Fergus McFadden.

More calls ups to Irish Rugby squad
Eleven additional players have been called into the Ireland squad to supplement the match 22 that was on duty last weekend against Italy.
Forwards Brett Wilkinson, Mick O’Driscoll, Donnacha Ryan, Stephen Ferris, Mike McCarthy and Jamie Heaslip have been called in along with backs Nevin Spence, Johne Murphy, Denis Hurley, Andrew Trimble and Gavin Duffy. Read more
New Structures Announced in Connacht Rugby
The Irish Rugby Football Union and Connacht Rugby today jointly announced a new structure for the professional game in Connacht with the specific aim of elevating the levels of performance for the province both on and off the pitch.
This new structure will include:
A new independent Professional Game Board (PGB) to oversee all aspects of the professional game
Increased support from the IRFU based on recommendations of the new PGB
Commitment from Leinster, Munster and Ulster to allow more movement of selected players to Connacht
The newly constructed Connacht Professional Game Board (PGB) has been established with responsibility for all activities associated with the running of the professional game in the province for the next three years. Read more

A huge support from Sligo has descended upon the Aviva Stadium as Sligo Rovers go in search of FAI Cup glory – the biggest prize in Irish soccer. A MAGNIFICENT 36,000 fans and supporters helped make it one of the biggest crowds ever at an FAI Cup final and put to shame the recent efforts of the IRFU to fill the stadium at rip off prices. My stats man tells me the biggest crowd since the 1968 final.
The atmosphere here is electric. A vocal Shamrock Rovers crowd almost drowned out the National anthem, as most people in the stadium could not hear it. Read more

Connacht XV to meet Leinster
Connacht Rugby have announced their starting XV to face Leinster in Round 6 of the Magners League this Saturday.
The squad sees just one change on the bench, Ezra Taylor replaces Andrew Browne who is ruled out through sickness.
Ireland trio John Muldoon, Sean Cronin and Gavin Duffy are included in the same starting lineup that beat French highflyers Bayonne in the Amlin Challenge Cup last weekend as Connacht look to complete a 3 in a row victory over Leinster in the Sportsground. Read more
Connacht Rugby announce starting XV
Connacht Rugby have announced their starting XV to face I Cavaleiri Estra in round 1 of their Amlin Challenge Cup campaign. St Marys prop Rob Sweeney makes his debut on the starting XV as does scrum half Cillian Willis and wing Darragh Fanning.
All three have featured in Connacht’s opening salvo of Magners League matches as impact replacements and have been rewarded for their efforts. Read more
IRFU confirm Rugby World Cup warm up fixtures
Ireland will play Scotland at Murrayfield in August next year in the first of their warm-up games for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The warm-up match against Scotland is scheduled for Saturday, August 6 and is the first of four scheduled games throughout that month before the Irish squad departs for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Read more
Three guilty of sex assault
Three men have pleaded guilty to sex assaults on a schoolgirl when she was 12 and 13. The men were placed on the register of sex offenders by Judge Gerard Griffin at Donegal Circuit Court yesterday.
Paul Gilmore(30), unemployed, admitted three offences in July, September and November in 2003 on a beach and a town in south Donegal when the girl was 13. Read more
