Fine Gael ‘don’t want to get in yet’ Jim McDaid TD

Former Government Minister Jim McDaid, TD, today claimed that Fine Gael don’t want to get into Government yet and that they deliberately pull backbenchers from Dail votes that could trigger an election.

 
In such cases, Deputy McDaid claimed Fine Gael “pull six or seven or eight of their own backbenchers out to ensure that the government actually wins the vote because they don’t want to get in yet”.

Former Government Minister Jim McDaid today told Lunchtime with Eamon Keane why he is refusing to forgo his ministerial pension.
Speaking first on Lunchtime with Eamon Keane on Newstalk 106-108 fm he said:

there had been a media “witch hunt” and “it’s been a week of actually whipping TDs into place.” Read more

Calls on McDaid and the Cope to give up Ministerial Pensions

Sinn Fein Councillor Mick Quinn is calling on Dr James Mc Daid and Pat (the Cope) Gallagher to surrender their Ministerial Pensions immediately.

Cllr Quinn said, Dr Mc Daid received €22,487 from his Ministerial pension last year whilst Pat the Cope received €23,634. This is on top of the monies they receive as TDs and MEP.
