Fermanagh school warns parents over alleged sighting of sex pest

A Fermanagh school has sent letters to parents after reports that a man believed to be a convicted sex offender was seen outside.

St Comgall’s High School also alerted police after reports of a man outside its buildings and nearby St Ronan’s PS, a BBC report says.

The parent claimed to have seen the individual outside the school on more than one occasion. Read more

Detectives in south Belfast are appealing for information following the attempted hijacking of a car at Broughton Gardens, Ravenhill Road in the early hours of Tuesday (20 July).

It is understood that a man was getting out of his car when he was approached by three youths. One youth punched the man to the face and demanded his car keys, however the man refused to hand them over and shouted for help.

Two of the youths produced knives and threatened the man. All three ran off citywards along the Ravenhill Road when a relative of the victim heard the commotion and came to his assistance.
 
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact detectives at Musgrave Street on 0845 60 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.

PSNI police launched an interagency operation targeting Rogue Traders and distraction burglars on a number of main arterial routes across Northern Ireland yesterday.

The operation, which brings together expertise from Police, Customs and Excise and Trading Standards has been developed to identify and prevent Rogue Traders and distraction burglars from operating across the country.

During the first phase of the operation, police also handed out flyers featuring ‘evofits’ (digital images which have been developed with the assistance of witnesses) of people suspected of being involved in rogue trader activity and distraction burglaries and have taken the unusual step of releasing the rogues gallery to the media. Wanted sex offender could be in Ireland

British police believe sex offender William John Paden may be in Ireland

POLICE in Lancashire through the PSNI in Northern Ireland are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a high risk sex offender who is wanted for recall to prison.

William John Paden, 56, a Registered Sex Offender, is wanted after he left an address in Blackpool.

Police believe he may be in Ireland and that he poses a significant risk of reoffending.
Paden has 19 sexual convictions dating back to 1974, including indecent exposure, assault with intent to rape, indecent assault on a female child, using a telecommunications device to send abusive/indecent messages, rape, incite a child to engage in sexual activity and recently breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
He is banned from associating with children unless they are unaccompanied by an adult over 21. Read more

Man shot and beaten with bat in Strabane

PSNI

A 25yr old man has been shot and beaten in a house in the Glebe Gardens area of Strabane. The incident happened at around midnight.

The man was in bed with his partner when the front door of the house was forced open and two masked men made their way to the bedroom. Read more

18-year-old shot in Newry

PSNI are investigating

An 18yr old male has been taken to hospital with a wound to his thigh following a shooting incident in Newry last night.

It is understood the man was in a play park on the Derrybeg Estate when he was approached by three masked men around 10.45pm (Friday night). One of the men produced a small handgun and shot the victim once in the upper thigh. The injured man was able to make his way home to get medical help.

He is being treated in hospital for his injuries which are not life threatening.

Fermanagh Catholic Church vandalised at Lisnaskea

 


POLICE in Fermanagh have condemned vandalism that was caused to a Catholic church at Lisnaskea, although it is not beleived to be sectarian linked.
A large statue was pushed from its stand and smashed on the floor of Holy Cross Church, Chapel Brae.  The damage was discovered on Wednesday afternoon (12th). Read more

Bicycles and tools stolen in Enniskillen

BICYCLES and tools have been stolen from garden sheds at a house at Elliott Place in the Coles Hill area of Enniskillen.

Two lawnmowers, three bicycles, a powerwasher, electric hedge clippers, two drills and two toolboxes full of tools were taken from two garden sheds sometime between 10.30 pm on Friday and 8.30am the next day. Read more

Attack on Fermanagh policeman’s car condemned

SDLP Fermanagh and South Tyrone Westminster candidate Ferghal McKinney has condemned an attack on a policeman’s personal car, which was found burnt out in Enniskillen.
 
Mr McKinney said: “An attack on any member of our community is unacceptable, and an attack on a member of our emergency services is totally reprehensible.

Fermanagh police warning on ‘con’ disabled bay painters

PSNI warning

POLICE in Fermanagh are advising business owners to be wary of ‘officials’ calling on them offering to paint disabled car parking bays supposedly to satisfy EU regulations.
The warning follows an incident in which two men arrived at business premises in Belleek and told the proprietor that in order to satisfy EU regulations she had to provide two marked disabled parking bays for visitors.
She agreed, and the work was carried out at a cost of 3,000 Euros.  The work was done by men using a yellow van with the name of a ‘road safety marking’ company on the side.
Shortly after they were painted, the markings were washed away by heavy rain.
