Sligo IT out of Sigerson Cup

NUIG 3-11

Sligo IT 0-10

A ten point defeat for Sligo with three second half goals for NUIG in the Sigerson Cup was a tough pill for Sligo in Ballinode yesterday as they were just one point behind at the interval.

IT Sligo GAA members will stand proud along with the Sligo senior GAA team this Sunday in the 2010 Connacht Senior Championship final against Roscommon.

And come what may, the three times Sigerson Cup winners will be delighted as they are represented by a total of seven players on both teams. But a Sligo victory would be sweet, there is no denying!

With six IT players on the Sligo senior panel (Jonny Davey, Keelan Cawley, Alan Costello, Kenny Sweeney, Stephen Coen & Gary Gaughan), and one from Roscommon (Paul Garvey), the IT is looking forward to a classic game.

It’s also noteworthy to point out that there were two IT Sligo players on the Galway team defeated in the Connacht semi final replay. And It certainly proves that the north west’s premier third level college is continuing to attract top footballers from right across the province to study there. Read more
