Why was Sligo passed over for funding?

Senator Susan O'Keeffe

Sligo North Leitrim Senator Susan O’Keeffe has called on the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to clarify why Sligo and the N4 in particular was not included in the new allocation of €100 million to maintain roads and improve safety.
“The stretch of the N4 from Collooney to Castlebaldwin has been labelled as possibly the most dangerous road in Ireland by the County Coroner. The road is unique in having 29 crosses on the roadside to remind drivers of the lives lost on the road in a short number of years”.
“Barry O’Leary, head of the IDA has already highlighted the road as an obstacle to foreign investment in Sligo. I am now asking for the Minister to clarify why the N4 has not been included in the additional funding and I will be asking the Minister and the NRA to clarify where the N4 stands on the list of priorities”.
“The community in Sligo and the N4 action committee have been very patient in relation to the road, however I will continue to press the Minister and the NRA to keep the N4 at the top of its agenda.”
